Grand Opening: Family Navigation Center
Grand Opening: Family Navigation Center — A Place That Feels Like a Hug
When Sparkflight Studios first broke ground on the Family Navigation Center, we envisioned more than a building — we aspired to create a place that would feel like a hug. On September 30, that vision came to life as Family Promise of Las Vegas, local leaders, and community partners gathered to celebrate the grand opening of this transformative new resource for families seeking stability, safety, and hope.
A Compassionate Collaboration
The Family Navigation Center — made possible through the generosity of Credit One Bank and built in partnership with Family Promise of Las Vegas — is a one-stop campus offering emergency housing, counseling, employment, and transportation support under one roof.
As Architect of Record, Sparkflight Studios worked hand in hand with Grand Canyon Development Partners, Eagle One Construction, and a team of dedicated consultants, uniting design and compassion to realize Family Promise’s mission: helping families with children achieve secure housing, financial stability, and long-term independence.
“This space was designed to feel like a hug,” said Marisa Cervantes, Executive Director of Family Promise of Las Vegas. “A safe, embracing space to recover your life — a catalyst for keeping families together.”
Designing Dignity into Every Detail
From the earliest sketches, our design team focused on creating a trauma-informed environment that nurtures healing and stability. The Center’s layout encourages calm and connection — open, light-filled interiors, shaded porches, warm colors, and private family areas provide both comfort and security. Outdoor gathering spaces further the sense of community and belonging.
Commissioner Tick Segerblom praised the collaborative effort that made this vision possible, calling it “a true example of people helping people” and recognizing the consistency and partnership that brought the project to completion.
Breaking the Cycle of Homelessness
For nearly three decades, Family Promise of Las Vegas (FPLV) has helped thousands of families transition from homelessness to safe, stable housing. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, FPLV delivers both temporary and long-term housing solutions through partnerships with apartment complexes, landlords, motels, and hundreds of service providers and stakeholders across Southern Nevada.
In the past year alone, FPLV served 788 families — more than 2,400 individuals — helping 91% transition into stable housing. Through a trauma-informed approach and wraparound services such as transitional housing, employment support, and family stabilization, FPLV helps families rebuild their futures with dignity and lasting independence.
Celebrating a Shared Vision
The grand opening was filled with gratitude and pride as project partners, local officials, and community members came together to honor what can be achieved through collective effort. Lisa Cox, an original FPLV board member, summarized the day beautifully: “Celebration. Gratitude. Commitment.”
Sparkflight Studios extends heartfelt thanks to Family Promise of Las Vegas and everyone who contributed to this compassionate collaboration. "We are proud to have helped create a space that restores dignity, strengthens families, and offers hope for generations to come" noted Anne Johnson, CEO | Principal of Sparkflight Studios.
